Hansie has done two previous runs - June 16 of 2008 and June 16 2009 and covered 100 km each time. When he was asked, "why don't you just cover 100 kilometers and run a good 100?", he replied, "the last 63 odd kilometers of the run/walk can only be completed with the help of others - the support team and some-one physically walking with you, pushing and pulling if required. To eradicate poverty we need to do the same - the individual wanting to break free can start on the journey, but he needs help and support to break free from poverty." Hansie added: "I expect that a number of South African politicians with a heart for poor people will participate in the run in one or other way".
The focus is on poverty eradication and that we all should take a stand for this. If you can run/walk with us - that will be great - even if it is only for 1 kilometer. Donations and sponsorships will go to Viola Moolman soup kitchen efforts (Eerstervier, Western Cape), Herbalife Family Foundation Casa Herbalife Projects (Africa), Pastor Xola Skosana (Way of Life Church - Khayelitsha for the Institute of building and equipping pastors), Pastor Ian Murray (Ministry Cape Town).
100% of donations or sponsorships will go to these projects - all of them rebuilding lives of people impacted by poverty in one or other respect.
